Joining A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals again for Friday Favorites. I don’t have a ton of photos this week because I spent most of it on my couch with a horrible sore throat, congestion, laryngitis, and achiness. I stayed home from work on Monday and Tuesday, went back on Wednesday (and probably should not have), returned on Thursday with little-to-no voice and went home right after my last class to rejoin the couch cushions. I went to sleep on the couch around 7 pm on Thursday and took Friday off and slept much of the morning. I am FINALLY feeling better today! I have my voice back and barely any congestion or cough left. Woohoo! But, now my husband may have it. Sigh…

Before I got sick last week, we had a chance to join some friends we hadn’t seen in a while for drinks and dinner after work at a new place to me – Ramble West Brewing. They don’t have a kitchen, so they had a food truck – Baked, Smashed and Fried. It is all about potatoes and I love a good potato, so I was excited! I got a baked potato that was HUGE and covered in fried chicken and all the fixins. I could not finish it all! Definitely hit the spot.
Early Saturday morning (and I do mean EARLY – 5:30 am) we were on the road to a Girl Scout event at Camp Bothin in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a three hour trip for us, so we typically make a weekend of it when we go for events. I took my daughter and another of our troop girls for “Voices for Change”. We were invited because my daughter and I are our Service Unit delegates for our Council’s Annual Meeting. I brought the extra girl because she was interested. They learned about public speaking, advocacy, parliamentary procedure and the proposals for the National Council Session which will happen in DC later this year. The trainings were followed up with a very fun campfire and s’mores (of course) and on Sunday morning, we had breakfast, did a little reflection and jumped back on the road home!
It was a great experience. My girls met lots of new friends from the Bay Area and my daughter will get to see them again in a week at the Annual Meeting. I had a restful weekend (no internet, so no work) in a beautiful setting.

I arrived home on Sunday midday and my husband and I went to a local nursery to pick up some plants because we had a landscaper coming on Monday to do some much-needed work in our backyard. The nursery had this out in front and I thought it was lovely.

What wasn’t lovely was how I woke up feeling on Monday! The rest of the week, I spent a lot of quality time with this lady (always a favorite):

Murder She Wrote carried me through. Well, that and baseball. Thank goodness baseball is back! Go Giants!
That was my sick week.
Today, I’m still taking it easy, trying to pick up a bit around the house, and tomorrow we will likely be hosting some friends for a casual Easter celebration and egg hunt in the backyard. It has become an annual thing, and hopefully, we are all feeling well enough to do it again! My daughter has friends over to watch The Pitt with her (she is obsessed and wants to recruit more people to it…lol) in her room. And other than that, baseball!
What was your favorites from the past week?
