It is official! As of now, school is out for Summer 2026! I can’t believe this means we’re officially in Senior Year!
#1 – School’s out!

Today!
I can’t say I’m not thankful that school is out, but I can’t believe we only have one more year in K-12! My daughter has been working the after-school program at her elementary school all this year and yesterday they did the Senior walk for all the graduating seniors who went to school there and she showed up just in time to see the end. She didn’t get to actually experience this as a 5th grader because we were in online school during that time. She said she teared up thinking that would be her next year and I’ll be honest, so did I! I’m excited about Senior Year, but also feeling like I don’t want to miss a second of anything. It feels like it is all slipping away, but I know there is just going to be different things that follow. But, I’m in all the feels!
#2 – My front porch/patio!
Our rental we lived in before moving here had a small front porch/patio and I’ve missed it so since moving here. There was barely any space by the front door and I used to love to sit out front with my coffee or tea and see neighbors and dogs and kids. So, for mother’s day this year, my husband did a thing:

And here it is finished!

They will come today to remove the framing and we’ll have to do a little work to get the grass built back up around it, but I LOVE it! I can’t wait to sit out there with my coffee in the morning or with iced tea in the afternoon. I will greet neighbors and dogs and delivery people! And in Fall we can decorate for Halloween! So much fun!
I will post a before and after photo, but probably not until after June 21 since we leave tomorrow morning for two full weeks!
#3 – Coloring on my iPad
I have been trying to use this week off from teaching/work to do relaxing things. I have not read as much as I should have, but I did do some coloring on my iPad. My daughter introduced me to this and it is very relaxing and watching the video when finished is so satisfying. This was my June 1 project.
#4 – Year-end for debate
We had our final meeting for the community debate group. I can’t believe I didn’t take a group photo. Ugh. I really need to up my photo-taking game. I got this one of my daughter before everyone arrived and then quickly forgot to get a group photo while everyone was there.

I came up with what I thought was a brilliant theme and we had lots of wings and some great home made baked goods, Arizona iced teas and some Chi sparkling beverages!

I’m going to be honest, I don’t know if we will continue with this next year. We only made it to one competition because they were either too busy or not prepared to go to tournaments and it is a lot of time and energy to just get them together. They are a really fun group and I think they really enjoy each other, but I told my daughter, they could just have a community meeting and play games without the debate part if no one is going to compete! We shall see. But, it was a fun end-of-year celebration.
#5 – Voting!
California had it’s primary election on Tuesday. The ballot was crazy long – I think we had 30+ people running for governor!! Only the top two will be on the ballot in November, thankfully. I went in person to vote, as I always do. It always feels like more of a community builder when you go in person and people who work the polls are my absolute favorites! I celebrated by getting some ice cream! What could be more American? The ice cream shop had this sticker that I think captures my love language.

#6 – Starbucks and Sequoia
