That’s our cat Stevie (ala Stevie Nicks) reigning supreme over the clean laundry. Does anyone else live in a house where no one else seems to be able to put away laundry? They will wash. They will dry. Sometimes they will even fold. But, no one ever seems to put anything away. Sigh…
Last weekend, we drove up to our closest national park – Lassen National Park. There is one road through the park and it closes down for the Winter and is sometimes closed until mid-June, but it opened up last week for the Summer season and we drove up! There is still a lot of snow up there!

It was a nice trip to cooler weather (it was in the 90s last week). We returned to a week of rain and cool weather though and we’re just getting back into the heat tomorrow. I’m fine with the 80s and even low 90s, but when we start hitting upper 90s and 100s, it can be pretty miserable. So, I’ve been fine with the cooler, rainy weather for a bit as we head into the warmer months.
We stopped for lunch on the way home in Redding CA and the brewery had some lovely murals.

So much detail on those walls!
This week I was still teaching at the Community College, but I finished up with both those classes and just have some grading to do and I’m officially done with all teaching for Spring 2026! It was not an easy semester, but I made it through and a lot of students have sent me very kind emails and said kind things about me and my class. I learned some things to change in my future classes as well. So, all in all, I will call it a win.
I also worked my final week for a few at FYE and I was “off” today and will be “off” until June 22. I put that in quotation marks because I have some things I will need to do during that time. But, I don’t have to go into work at all until June 22. I felt like this was a good week there in that I accomplished a lot of things that were coming due and I have a good idea of what to prioritize as I move into the Summer transition time.
In eight days, we’ll be leaving town for two weeks to go LA to work a high school debate camp. I will also be teaching the first two weeks of my online Summer class. We return to Northern California on the 19th, stay in Sacramento for one night, my husband flies out to a high school debate camp in Michigan on the morning of the 20th and I return home.
I am feeling a little stressed about getting everything ready for our pet sitter, considering one of our dogs is in the middle of some skin infection/allergy battle that isn’t going as well in treatment as I would like and our other dog is an old bulldog who is a little smelly and snores a lot. Lol. I need to get them both bathed (with it warming up, I will likely just do that in the backyard), the bulldog needs a nail trim and I have a follow-up appointment with the vet for our allergy/skin infection doggo. I feel a little embarrassed of our pets, but they probably aren’t as bad as I see them. Hopefully. We will leave lots of good snacks and such to make up for the pet situation.
