I’m a day late (and probably a dollar short – anyone remember that oldie, but goodie? My dad loved to say that), but here for Friday Favorites with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals for Friday Faves. This week has felt both long and short.

I spent a lot of time with these two right next to me on the couch this week. I feel a little guilty I didn’t do more during Spring Break, but the weeks leading up to it were rough and I was tired (still am). I didn’t get nearly enough done during the week (how did I get here – so much grading to do, so much class prep to get through the end of the semester, so much laundry and decluttering to do…), but I did accomplish some important things and I’ve found that the semester ends whether I feel ready for it or not, so I will just do what I can do.

I did get to enjoy a nice dinner with my husband before he left for five days. We went to a place we had not been a long time and had a great meal with a great waiter. I love how they have one of these cute little lamps on every table! It is a place that definitely feels like a classic!

Wednesday we returned to the hospital, but this time for an outpatient visit. I will be honest, it felt like it could have been a telehealth appointment. I’m glad it was Spring Break and we didn’t miss work and school for this very short, and not very hands on appointment! We combined it with a stop at the beach, which is always nice, but especially when the temps are in the 80s inland. By the time we arrived at beach parking, the temps had dropped to 68 degrees!

Yesterday, we received this lovely gift from our cat. We aren’t SURE it was this cat who delivered it, but the other two seemed relatively uninterested in it. I think it is a “pocket gopher” – at least that is what neighbors are saying. They have really done a number on our back lawn, so I’m not sorry to see it go, but I could do without the dead thing in my house. But, the cats are just “gifting,” so I can’t be too upset I guess. 🤷♀️

We are waiting for a landscaper to come in and do some work in the backyard, so it isn’t in the greatest shape right now. But, I spent some time in the hammock, looking up at our cherry tree that is in bloom, and it was bliss. I can’t wait for the landscaping touchups to be done and to really be able to enjoy the whole space out there again! I love our backyard, but it definitely is in need of some TLC this Spring!

Yesterday, my daughter and I made a trip to a few towns over for cheap, but really tasty Mexican food and on the way back we stopped at one of our favorite local places, Pumpkinland Chocolate Company and my daughter got ice cream and I got these beautiful flowers and we pet their barn cats. If you’re ever on Highway 99 between Chico and Red Bluff CA, definitely make the stop. Their candy is delicious, the people who own it are wonderful, the setting is beautiful, and the barn cats love the pets!
That’s it for Spring Break week. I spent a lot of time on my couch working and watching Murder She Wrote. I did some decluttering, I did some laundry, I finished prepping out two classes through end of semester (two more to go), I balanced out our cookies for Girl Scouts (we need to sell about 15-20 boxes more per girl and we will have done well – it can be done), and I got to relax a bit. I watched a few episodes of The Pitt (my daughter is obsessed, so she is rewatching it as I watch). So, all in all, not bad. I could have been more productive, but sometimes we just need to be and not do.
Today we’re heading to Sacramento and Davis to see my sister and visit some favorite spots and hopefully get my daughter’s thrifted prom dress fixed up to fit her. It is really cute on her, but her chest is a bit too big to zip it, so I’m hoping my sister can just make it more elastic in the back. We shall see.
