Well, it is the last day of November 2025. The last day of NoBloPoMo. I started the month out strong, but this past two weeks, I really fell off. I’ve been out of town at my in-laws for the past five days and I didn’t take my laptop. I was planning to use my iPad to post, but it was not as easy as I thought, even with my bluetooth keyboard. So, I just went without posting. But, I’m back to my laptop and will finish out the month with a post! I got 18 of the 30 days, so over half. And that is way more than I usually post in a month! So, I’ll take it!

But for now, let’s do Friday Favorites! There were a ton of Favorites this week!

(Well, my Google Photos link is not working, so I guess I will just list some things that I was going to share this week, and I’ll have to come back and fill in when my photos are working). [The problem has been fixed – adding photos now!]

Local Coffee and New (indoor) Pickleball Facility

I am not currently a pickleball player, but this new place in town might turn me into one. It is a huge indoor facility with multiple courts and a couple of volleyball courts and some ping pong tables. Air conditioning during Summer and warm, dry courts in Winter. That might make it doable for me!

We also visited one of our favorite coffee trucks – Sippy Hippie and had some great looking (and tasting) coffee and chai! We also got a cute Christmas sticker.

My Cat, Sequoia

She is such a pretty cat and always joins me on the couch when I’m working or watching TV! I love her!

Giving Tree

I was grabbing coffee at another of my local places and saw their little giving tree had only one tag left on it. So, I grabbed it. We will shop for a child at our local transitional family housing facility and make sure to send them good wishes as well as gifts! I participate in giving at work for our Adopt A Family but I don’t often get to actually purchase gifts, so this will be fun.

Stranger Things!!

I don’t know that I’ve talked about my and my daughter’s love of Stranger Things on this blog. But, we have one! I was a late comer to the show (started watching during Season 3), but I bought in fully. My daughter and I went to the Stranger Things Experience in San Francisco twice while it was there! So, Season 5 was a must! We watched at my SIL’s house with her and her daughter who had stopped watching in Season 3 because her daughter is younger than mine and it was scary. But, they are back in now!

It was so good to have the show back, even for a short amount of time. I loved the new characters and the twists and now that I know the teacher in the new season is the Duffer Brothers’ drama teacher from high school, I love it even more. There were definitely some plot twists and I am excited about the next release on Christmas! We will be home for that one.

Thanksgiving

We had a GREAT meal and a lovely day with family! We had Thanksgiving back at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s house and my brother-in-law made a smoked turkey that was ah-mazing! We had ham as well and a ton of sides and I was stuffed!

Woolworth’s Lunch Counter

This was so exciting! My in-laws live in Bakersfield CA and they HAD one of the last original lunch counters in a Woolworth’s but it closed down a while ago. But, they had an investor come in and they kept the original lunch counter, flat top grill and the restored the flooring to the original. They also opened a cute little coffee place in the corner and a full bar across the way from the lunch counter. It was great to be there again and to know there are people who are taking care of history!

Late with my comment! So many great things! Woolworth’s -is it a department store? Looks vintage, I’ve never been to one.

It was more like a “five and dime” or like a CVS would be nowadays. It had all kinds of stuff and a lot of them had these lunch counters. The lunch counters became a famous symbol during the Civil Rights era because there was a sit-in at the segregated counter in Greensboro NC. But, this one in Bakersfield is the last one in existence that still serves. The store isn’t there anymore, but the original sign and windows and floors and seats and counter are all there. It is just something I appreciate as a historical place. The one from Greensboro is now in the Smithsonian from my understanding.
