Five Podcasts I Listen To

Today, I’ve picked Five Podcasts because I love podcasts! I don’t listen to a ton of them regularly, but I definitely have five favorites. I’m always looking for new ones, so please share yours in the comments! Here goes!

Cabot Coverage

This is my FAVORITE podcast right now. Everytime I tune in, I feel like I’m listening to friends gab about my favorite show. The women are hilarious and they make my obsession with Murder, She Wrote seem a little more normal. Their references are spot on with things I like or know and I will binge listen when I’m feeling a little meh in life.

The Ezra Klein Show

This one is something I have to be in the mood to listen to because politics tend to make me a little crazy these days. But, I find Ezra Klein to be a relatively rational actor in the discussion. He seems genuinely concerned with making the world a better place, not just supporting a political party. And he’s really, really smart. I do like listening to smart people.

Edit Your Life

Christine Koh is another really, really smart person. She is a neuroscientist by training and an author and podcaster (and a whole bunch of other stuff) by interest. Her episodes are typically pretty short (especially the mini edits) and they really are a salve on my tired and sometimes struggling soul. We have kids of a similar age. She does way more things than I ever will (she makes tinctures, she reads more than I do, and she meal preps like a pro), but I feel inspired and calmer when I listen to her podcast.

You’ve Got This

I feel like Katie Linder is my better self. We share some things in common. She works in academia, but isn’t a Tenure/Tenure Track professor. She likes doing research. But, she is an amazingly productive person. She does so much, I sometimes think she must be awake for 20 hours a day. But, alas, she just has a really organized and planned life. I will never be Katie Linder, but I have learned a ton from her about working in academia and being a productive and well-rounded human being.

Hooked (previously The Couch)

This is a new favorite. Mary Carver had a podcast called The Couch where she talked a lot about Hallmark movies. I wasn’t terribly into that one. I like Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, but I’m not SUPER into the regular Hallmark romance movies. So, it never quite hit with me. But, this new one is definitely more up my alley! She is a Christian who talks about her faith, so if that bothers you, she may not be the best for you. But, I find her to be a charming voice who is real about life and real about God.

So, there you go – today’s NaBloPoMo post. What’s your favorite podcasts right now?

I have also started through the back episodes. I used to listen to it when Asha was on with her long, long ago and then it fell off my radar when I stopped commuting to work. I’m so glad I found it again!

I haven’t even heard of these podcasts! Ha! I mostly listen to comedy and true crime and use podcasts as entertainment. I never want to actually learn anything from them!

I don’t listen to a whole lot of podcasts – and only occasionally to one’s that I have subscribed to at some point. Ezra Klein is on that list (he has insightful commentary!) and Pod Save America.
