Five Things I Will Never Do

I tend to be a never say never kind of gal. I guess I like to leave possibilities open and I don’t know who I am likely to be in 5 years, so why say I won’t do things. But, I have a list of five things below that I am pretty convinced I will never do in this lifetime. Enjoy!

#1 – Taco Bell 50K

I could have left that at just a 50K, but I think the Taco Bell 50K is even more of a sure no-go for me. Can you imagine? First of all, I don’t run (I know there are a lot of runners in the NaBloPoMo group and I admire and respect you, but…). I started swimming competitively when I was 3.5 years old and I always felt like my body was made for water, not land. Add stopping at ten different Taco Bells during the 50K and it just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

#2 – Hike the Pacific Crest Trail

I watch a lot of hiking videos of people doing the PCT and they all have convinced me that I would not actually ever try doing it. I think if someone/something else could carry all my gear, I might be willing to do legs of it. But, being outside, without a toilet and shower for days in a row (if not longer) seems unpleasant. Definitely not for me. I also think that having to climb mountains and walk through deserts and deal with all the mosquitoes sounds awful. I love to watch other people do it and legs of it are absolutely breathtaking and it must feel amazing to actually complete it. But, I will not ever do it.

#3 – Get a PhD

I have my MA in Communication Studies and I love teaching and working in higher education. I’ve thought many times about going back to school to get my PhD or EdD, but it just isn’t in the cards for me. I have settled for the MA as my highest degree and I’m happy with it. It means I can only go so far in my current job (no Tenure/Tenure Track for me), but I am happy with where I am and I am getting close enough to retirement that getting another degree just would not be worth the risk of it not paying off at this point.

#4 – Go on the show Fear Factor

I can’t believe they are bringing back this show! And from the previews it looks like it will be even worse than it was before. I do not like watching people suffer and this show is all about making people suffer. So, I won’t even WATCH Fear Factor! But, I can’t imagine anything other than my daughter’s life being worth being on that show and letting them do some gross or totally scary or harmful thing to me. No thank you!

#5 – Stop watching Murder, She Wrote

For those of you who don’t know me, I LOVE the show Murder, She Wrote. It is and has been my background show for years. I turn it on in the background when cleaning, doing work at home, etc. We have visited Mendocino, where some of Season 1 was filmed and even stayed in the Hill House hotel! I’ve seen all the episodes multiple times and I’ve tried to find new shows to watch instead (mostly at the pleading of my husband), but I just can’t find something that is as comfortable and as comforting as Murder, She Wrote. I will likely watch it in some capacity for the rest of my life. And I won’t be ashamed of it. This was in my Instagram feed today and it made me LOL.

That’s it for today! I’m off to bed and ready for rain that will be coming over night. Let’s go Fall! And just for fun to close out this post…

Sorry, I Rick Rolled you all!

Oh this is fun. We have a whole series of never would I ever post in the community.

These are actually some new things here.

I think it gives a bit of piece when you decide that she degree is not in the books for you. I never really went to university and “only” did night classes (also Marketing and Communications) and always felt I miss something or I won’t be going as far. But once I was ok it took of quite some pressure. Now I am self-employed and couldn’t be happier.

One thing I would do on your list would be the pacific trail. What an adventure. It will most likely never happen though.

I am a runner but the Taco Bell 50K is also on my “never”-list LOL the Pacific Crest Trail however is tempting. I hiked part of it before (only a short stretch though).

I have a list like this on my blog too, and it is mainly full of thrill seeker type activities. The Taco Bell 50K sounds pretty gross, I agree. Multi-day hikes I love, but only the ones that I can without carrying my home on my back and where I can get a nice glass of wine and dinner at the end of the day.

A nice glass of wine and dinner is definitely a good incentive. But, I would still rather stay in a hotel. 😉
