Linking up with Runs with Pugs and Runners Fly today for Tuesday Topics and it is focused on our New Year’s Plans. And mine are currently up in the air.

What I currently have planned

We were going to be hosting a few families for New Year’s Eve. We have been getting together with a group of families from preschool and our preschool director’s family since they were in preschool. One family fell out of the group as the kids finished elementary school, so we were down to our preschool director and her husband and one other family the past few years. But, this year, we invited another family too. My husband usually BBQs but the weather has rain and wind, so we simplified to pizza. We usually just play games and hang out, but I have a Trader Joe’s Gingerbread House that I thought we would put out to put together as well.

My daughter was going to go to a friend’s to watch the Stranger Things finale and then maybe come back or go to another friend’s house for NYE.

But…

What looks likely to happen…

If you’ve been reading along, you know that we came home early from our after-Christmas visit to my in-laws because my daughter got a pretty bad cold and my father-in-law already had an ER visit before Christmas and is scheduled for surgery in less than two weeks. So, we weren’t taking chances. The cold has held on and this morning things got even worse. She woke up with crusty eyes that are red and swollen and definitely look like Pink Eye. Sigh…

So, we have a pediatrician appointment at 4:30 pm, but I’m thinking a house in the first 24-48 hours of a pink eye infection is probably NOT where others want to be. Plus the cold symptoms hanging on and it all sounds precarious now. I am waiting to make an official call, but it seems pretty inevitable at this point that we will be spending our NYE at home, alone, with pink eye floating around. Ugh…

Hoping everyone else’s New Year’s Eve plans are looking better!
