Missed another day. Oh well. I am posting WAY MORE than I have ever before, so I’ll take the wins where I can get them. So, I’m here for Friday Favorites. Joining Momfessionals and A Little Bit of Everything once again! Here are some things that got me through this week:
1. Dinner Date!

My husband and I got a night out on Wednesday! My daughter was working a parenting class (watching the kids while the parents took their class), so we had some time and she got dinner there, so we needed food!
We went to our local brewery, which is pretty well known nationally and their Tap Room is the best! I don’t usually drink much beer when we go because my husband enjoys it more than I do, so I am the DD. But, I did have two beers on this flight to start the night and they were both quite tasty! The only thing bad about some of these beers that you taste in the tap room is they are short term. So, they may be gone the next time you go.
I had a great meatloaf sandwich and my husband had fried brussel sprouts that were fantastic. There was a break in the weather, so we were able to eat outside on the patio and it was a little chilly, but with the warming lamps, it wasn’t bad and it felt like fall! Great night over all!
2. Campus Rooster

This guy shows up in random places around campus and makes a lot of noise! I love him though. He is a really pretty rooster and he isn’t phased by people much, so he just walks right up to people and will crow while standing next to you. It makes me laugh every time I spot him or hear him from some far away place on campus.
3. Fall cookies!

Boxed spiced cake mix, a can of pumpkin and some chocolate chips. Yum. And the smell is amazing!
4. Coffee

This is always a favorite, but I don’t always mention it. This week, it was NECESSARY!
5. This group of amazing high schoolers!

We share food, fun and some learning again this week. These kids are truly amazing and I could not ask for a better group to share time with weekly. They are all going to go on in life and do really great things. And I will be able to say I knew them when!
6. Options on campus for stress eating

I would caption this photo, “Tell me you’re stressed out without telling me you’re stressed out.” This week was hard. And when things are hard, I will often feed my feelings with salty and sweet. So, this was a not-so-healthy decision at our little convenience store next to where I teach on campus. The strawberry hostess cupcakes were not my first choice, but the only flavor left. I didn’t finish the Cheez-Its because that extra cheese is no joke. But, I did finish my Dr. Pepper. It was a moment of weakness in a week of lots of challenges.
7. Lap warmers

The week ended with a blanket and my fluffy buddy who is always near me if in the house.
That blanket was made by woman I don’t know who simply posts on Facebook that she is making blankets and takes requests for colors and such. It is the most beautiful and kind thing! And I love the blanket.
The cat is Sequoia. Our oldest cat at almost four years. She is one of the best cats I’ve ever owned. We call her Catan most of the time. She didn’t have a voice when we adopted her from a feral cat rescue and I thought she never would. But, soon after we adopted her, she found her voice and never let it go! She once disappeared for 10 days when she was less than a year old and I had pretty much decided we had lost her. But, she showed up, a little worse for wear, but overall, just fine. She has not been gone for more than a few hours since.
So, that’s my Friday Favorites on a Saturday. I will change the “Mo” in the hashtag #NaBloPoMo to mean “Most days”! 🙂
