Friday Favorites – Late Photoless Edition

Well, its another Friday Favorites on a Saturday and this one will be sans photos because I realized I took none this week. 😦 But, I’m going to let you all know my favorites without because there were some really fun things this week (and a lot of work…too much work). Joining A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals for this last Friday Favorite of September!

Last weekend was a whirlwind and I can’t believe that I didn’t take any photos! I really need to get my act together on taking more photos. I think it is because I’m trying to stay off my phone and I just need to remember that taking photos is not scrolling! So, last weekend we had:

Chico Community Debate Tournament #1

That’s right! We had our first competition of the year. We had five competitors go because one person got sick on the Friday before. So, we had two debate teams and my daughter did Student Congress for the first time. It was definitely a learning experience. We had one team go 2-2, one team 1-3 and my daughter was just below middle of the pack in each round of student congress and didn’t get to the final round. But, we learned some things and have some things to work on moving forward.

Live Music

On Sunday, I got to go to a concert at one of our local venues for free! A friend had got extra tickets and another friend and I went along and we ran into another friend at the venue and sat with them. It was a great night with great music! This is who we saw:

Week of Speeches

This week I had all of my Zoom sessions for my online Public Speaking classes. It is a lot to organize because the class is asynchronous, but the Zoom sessions are synchronous so I am trying to schedule small groups of people with vastly different schedules. But, we made it through! It helps that I am teaching a high school concurrent enrollment class and they have a regular time for their meetings on Mondays and Thursdays when I can schedule their speeches without worrying about conflicts. But, everyone else is a challenge! The speeches were self-introduction speeches and it was so much fun to learn about everyone’s lives and backgrounds and interests! But, it made for a very long week with both early morning, mid-morning, and evening speech sessions throughout the week.

In addition to all that, I also had a Girl Scout Troop meeting on Monday night and a debate team meeting on Tuesday night. So, very, very busy again. And now, we’re heading to the Bay Area tomorrow afternoon because my daughter has her heart clinic appointment at Lucile Packard on Monday at 7:15 am. Way too early for the 3.5 hours it takes to get there from home. So, playing a little catch up today and hoping to have things set to go for next week by the time we leave tomorrow.

This week I’m making it a goal to take at least three photos a day. I may not use them all in next week’s post, but at least I will have some to choose from! 🙂 How about you? How are you feeling about heading into October this week? I’m excited for cooler weather heading our way tomorrow (it has been in the 90s and even 100 a couple of days this week) and for Halloween decorations going up around the neighborhood.

Our adjacent neighborhood does Halloween like no other and I love seeing all the decor and getting excited about the night. I miss being able to take my daughter around, but we’ll probably head over to a friend’s house who has little ones to enjoy the experience from their viewpoint.
