It’s been a calm but meaningful week around here as I wrapped up my summer classes and we got the house ready for a very special arrival—my husband is finally coming home after five weeks away for work! We tagged along for the first two, but he’s been in Michigan while we’ve been holding down the fort back home.
Now we’re switching gears and packing up for a road trip through a couple of cooler-weather states—yes, please to escaping the heat! ❄️ Even though it’s been a quieter week on the surface, I still have a few fun Friday Favorites to share with you. Big thanks to A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals for hosting the link-up!
Junior Giants Game
We kicked off our first Saturday in July not at a big-league stadium, but at a local park—cheering on one of my friend’s kids at their very first Junior Giants game of the season! My friend is the coach (though honestly, she’s more of a chief encourager than anything else), and it was so fun to watch.

Like all great youth sports moments, the game had its share of highlights: three kids cried, one ball actually made it to the outfield, and when it did, the outfielder, second base, third base, and right field all sprinted toward it in a glorious pileup—leaving no one left to throw it to once one of them got it. 🤣
It was also an unusually cool summer day here, and sitting in the shaded bleachers with a Starbucks in hand felt like the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning.
Reunion with Friends
After the game, I had the joy of reconnecting with someone very special — a former debater of mine who’s worn many hats over the years: first as a Graduate TA for our speech and debate team, then as a fellow coach at a regional university, and now, a cherished family friend. He was in town with his wife and their adorable 15-month-old — and this was our first time meeting the baby. Let me just say: totally worth the wait!
Joining us was another close friend (actually, the one who was coaching that Junior Giants game), and together we had breakfast at a local spot I hadn’t visited in quite a while. The food was fantastic, the company even better, and the whole morning left my heart feeling full.
Best of all? They’re thinking about moving here — and we couldn’t be more excited about the possibility!
A Slow Sunday Morning

For me and the pets it seemed.
A fun podcast

I’ve actually been listening to this podcast for a while, but recently I went back to the very beginning. It always feels like hanging out with friends and they never fail to make me laugh. And they are talking about my favorite TV show that is on repeat in my house always: Murder She Wrote!
Expect a big Friday Favorites next week because we’re traveling this coming week and I’m very excited for some of the places we’re visiting!
