Sorry this is coming a day late – yesterday was filled with lots of fun last day of school activities for which I served as the driver! I also had a ton of errands to get done before we leave today for two weeks!
This week has been a truly good one, and for a few very happy reasons. First, I’ve been off work—which always brings a sense of ease and a little more room to breathe. Second, there have been some milestone moments worth celebrating, and those always add an extra layer of joy. And third, I’ve had the space to start dreaming and planning for Summer—my favorite season to reset and recharge. So let’s dive into the highlights that made this week shine!

School’s Out for Summer!
It’s officially Summer in our house! My daughter wrapped up 10th grade today at 12:45 p.m., and while this school year definitely came with its challenges, I’m so proud of how much she’s grown. Academically, it wasn’t the easiest ride, but she’s learned a lot—especially about herself and what helps her succeed as a student. This Summer, we’re planning to work on a few study strategies and maybe do a little math review to set her up for success in 11th grade.
But overall, I’m really happy with how her high school experience is shaping up. She’s got a solid group of friends, a positive outlook, and most days she’s in genuinely good spirits—and honestly, that feels like a big win.
Today she’s off swimming at a friend’s house and then heading to a going-away party for an international student she became close with this year. Oh, to be in high school again—when your whole summer starts with a splash! 🌊

A Room with a View!
Okay, this one might sound a little odd for a “favorite,” but hear me out—we finally got a new patio door for our bedroom, and I am so excited about it. When we moved into our home three and a half years ago, the old door had a broken seal, and the glass was always fogged up with condensation and covered in hard water stains on the inside. It was permanently cloudy, no matter how much I cleaned it.
But this week? We replaced it—and wow, what a difference. Our backyard view, which has always been lovely (even if the grass is a bit stressed from the sudden heat wave and our lagging sprinkler schedule), finally feels like part of the room. There’s something so simple yet joyful about being able to see clearly out into the yard from our room. It honestly makes the whole space feel lighter and more open. It might be a small home improvement, but it’s bringing some serious sparkle.

We have a permitted driver!
Okay, so technically the real driving doesn’t start until after our trip, but we officially have a permit in hand! In California, new drivers need to complete six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a certified instructor before they can drive with a parent or other adult. So, while no actual driving practice with us until July 3, the lessons are booked, the paperwork is done, and we’re on our way down the road—literally and figuratively. Another milestone checked off the list!

National Donut Day!
I mean, who doesn’t love a fresh donut? To celebrate the National Donut Day we made a quick stop at our favorite local donut shop on the way to school! Clearly, we weren’t the only ones with the idea: the line was nearly out the door, and the boxes flying out by the dozen.
As an extra treat, we got to watch the baker in action through their viewing window—maple bars in the making! Nothing like a small, sugary tradition to mark the start of summer. Last day of school celebration vibes were definitely in the air.
